Local accountants Sellens French have bought the building housing Hastings Cycles. The bike shop, located at the corner of Newgate Road and Bohemia Road, had failed to reach its reserve price of £150,000 at the Clive Emson September auction, held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.

Accountancy firm partner, John French, said “We made an offer after the auction of £140,000 which was accepted. We’ve told Nick Alff [owner of the Hastings Cycles business] that we’re in no hurry to see him go. In the short term, we’ll probably do up the maisonette above the shop and let it out, but eventually we’ll be using the premises as offices for ourselves, we are always running out of space.”
