A Lost Weekend in Bohemia, New York
By Diane Haberstroh, Bohemia, New York. 11 February 2013
Being snowed in the past couple of days, made it feel like a lost weekend. You really couldn’t go any where. The roads were barely plowed. I did venture out yesterday afternoon and got caught on the entrance ramp to the Southern State Highway because the ramp wasn’t plowed. Three cars up from me got stuck in snow. About half an hour later, the Dowling College baseball team, that was on their way to a practice, managed to push the stuck car out and onto the Southern State Highway. I helped by shoveling the snow away from the vehicle’s tires with a spade (I keep a spade in the trunk of my car) before the guys pushed the car out. I must admit that I was a bit nervous when my turn came to go over the spot the other vehicle had gotten stuck in. It really wasn’t a good idea to be out, but cabin fever got the best of me. I did manage to get in a walk, but only to a local place. I attached a couple of pictures.
