Frank Letchford

In July 2008, Mrs Joyce Letchford kindly brought in 15 pictures from the early 1900s, 1970s and 1980s to the Bohemia Village Voice.
She and her husband Frank W Letchford (photo below) used to run a bookshop at 116,Bohemia Road, St Leonards, Sussex, TN37 6RL. We are, needless to say, extremely grateful to Joyce for her thoughtful contribution to our archives. The photo (below) shows Frank at typewriter holding Wilderness Man by Lovat Dickson. As wikipedia gives 1974 as publication date of this book, the photo of Frank was presumably taken sometime after 1974.

- 1973. Frank Letchford outside 116. Resident since Oct 1958. In early 1900s 116 was a public house ‘Hearts of Oak’? 3. August 1977. Aubrey Budd and Frank Letchford. It was mail-order shop. Frank did the lettering.
- About 1905. Greetings card manufactured by Edward Southey Photo Restoration, Beckenham, BR3 4HR. Produced and distributed by the BMD Group, Hastings, TN34 2EG.
- Sat 28 Sept 1974. 1300 hours.Bohemia Road closes down for Saturday lunch. Co-op Mini became an accountants. Griegs closed. 20 years later cars nose to tail on Saturday mornings. Half the shops empty or rooms different by 1993.
